I can only put in 12.5 gal or so. No dents.?

Purchased car this year with 39,000 miles. Well taken care of 17 year old vehicle. Geting 29-31 mpg with mostly highway driving. Have run out of gs twice after driving 360 miles. Specs in the owners manual and on internet indicate 15.9 gal tank but filling up after runnng out I can only put in 12.5 gal or so. No dents. ???

I come up with 13.3 gal or 50 litres as a total capacity, allow about 1 litre for line capacity thereabouts.............................................................................
