The check engine light went on about a month ago. I took it into the mechanic and they couldn't figure out what was wrong and reset the code. The light came back on 4 days and ago and yesterday went off again. What would cause the light to go off? Is there something wrong with a sensor possibly?

Hi:
The computer will set the light when it sees a problem, but if the problem isn't there after it cycles through its checks a few times, it will shut off. When you had it at the dealer, did they tell you what the code indicated or the code number?

Thanks for getting back to me, Joe. When I take it to the dealership they "think" it has something to do with the emissions, but are not really sure. The process has sped up significantly where as it was a few weeks between the light turning of and on and now it is a few days.

Have they ever identified the code from the computer that makes them feel it's emission related?
