Stuck in drive

I have the car listed above convertible. I put a new shifter handle on it and pulled it down in the first and was kind of hard to pull it, in went around the block first, second, third gear and got home and wanted to put it into park and I have just slipping linkage now.

Hi:
There shift cable needs to be mounted. Have you checked if it has come loose? Take a look at pic 1.

It really only could have slipped in one of three places. See pic 2. Check hose points on the transmission as well.

Here are the directions for adjustment. The directions correlate with pic 2.

Press lever (3) forward (park position).
Press cable rod (4) in opposite direction to travel, then release again.
Clamp cable rod (4) by tightening nut (2) (brace with special tool 24 5 210.
