So, I've had a small issue when launching my car listed above, my pedal would get stuck to the floor for a second or two. I've never thought about it too much, but today when going up a very steep incline, my car reached about 6,000 RPMs in first. I think I burnt my clutch because once I got to the top of this incline, my pedal was stuck to the floor and wouldn't come back up. I was able to park and let it sit for about 2 hours. Then I attempted to drive it home. I was able to shift up and down, but the pedal only came up about 1-2 inches. On the way home, I stopped at a red light and played with the pedal a bit. Just pushing it in and out. It seemed to have fixed itself and went back to normal. The master cylinder and hose connections seem to be fine. The master cylinder also seems full. No exterior leaks. Should I try and replace the slave cylinder? And would it be bolted on the outside of the transmission or mounted inside?

Hi,

When you were at 6,000 RPMs, was it because it was slipping? A clutch, when failing, is most noticeable in higher gears because there is more of a load on them.

As far as the slave, it may be the issue. Have you checked for any evidence of leaks on the bottom of the transmission where the bell housing meets the engine block?

As far as the slave, yes, the transmission needs to be removed to replace it. At that point, I would simply replace the clutch, and pressure plate, and resurface the flywheel.

If you look below, I provided the directions related to the slave cylinder replacement. If I had to guess, I would think it is a more likely suspect than the clutch master cylinder simply because of what you experienced.

Take a look through the directions and let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
