Hi,

Everything I have indicates this vehicle only came with a 2.4L. So, I'm not sure about the 2.5L.

I attached two pics below. The relay is under the hood on the passenger side. If you look at pic 1, it shows the location. Pic 2 shows the relay.

Here is a link you may find helpful when testing the relay:

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

My car has the specification Mitsubishi Galant. VI Kombi (EA_) 2.5 V6 24V (EA5W) 1998 163Hk. Do you think the relay is situated at another place if 2.5 means 2.5L?

Hi,

It should be in the same location, but I have no information on the vehicle. Are you in the US? This may be a model that isn't offered here. If you look at the attached pic, that is what is available in my manual. Each of the three options for a Galant only offers the 2.4L.

I have now remounted the relay and the test gives that the relay is okay. My car is Galant Station Wagon(EUR) 1998, JMBLNEA5WWY000206, WHHCFN4255, ST511, 6A13, 163 Hk, EA5W, LNGEQL6, Y81. The relay was marked Omron MB827895 05180. Are you sure that this is the start relay and not the theft-alarm starter relay? What is the difference?
Where is the place for the starter relay?
