Hi, with no changes made, suddenly, a very strong engine noise sounds through the speakers. No have any amplifier nothing. Cannot hear the radio anymore, all you can hear is the engine noise. Could it be a bad alternator ? Thank you.

Grab a DVM, select A/C volts, check alternator for a floating A/C voltage, positive lead on post, negative lead on battery.

Very probably an alternator issue, best to get it tested. also, make sure no earth straps have come loose or broken.
