I'm needing to replace the stretch belt on my car listed above SEL. I have not been successful at putting it on. I even rented a small tool to be able to put it on easily. Does it lock up? I've looked at videos with the tool being used and it looks easy. I'm wondering if it can lock up somehow or is there something else that is preventing me from being able to put it on. I attached a photo of the tool I rented to make it easy to put on.

I have tried replacing it and it has ripped twice. Both news belts have ripped while trying to put them on. I bought them at AutoZone. Idk if I'm being given the wrong one or not.

The belt size is important on this application. Did you match the old belt to the new one? If so, you might want to try a Motorcraft belt.

I couldn't compare it because it was shredded and didn't have the whole belt. Most of it was gone. With all the trial and error. I'm just going to get one from a Ford dealership tomorrow. We came to the conclusion that it wasn't the right one. Thank you for your replies.

Finally got the correct belt from O' Reilly's. The Ford dealership gave me the incorrect belt too. No problem putting the correct belt on.
