Will a 3.0 in a 2002 stratus fit in a 2006 stratus that had a 2.7 in it?

That's a good question. It probably will, with a little modification to get the motor mounts to line up. You will have to remove the wiring harness and the Power-train Control Module [PCM] or remove the wiring harness and run a stand alone Engine Control Unit[ECU] when the engines are swapped as well. The PCM for the 2.7L engine will not work with the 3.0L engine, so that has to be taken into account as well. Please get back to us with how everything turns out, and I hope that this helps.

Thanks,
Alex

In this case not much of it will interchange as the only thing that is the same on those cars is the name. The Stratus was an odd car. The sedan and convertible models used the same platforms built by Chrysler. However the coupes were made by Mitsubishi on the same platform as the Eclipse. Nothing on them other than a few minor parts will actually interchange. To swap the 3.0 into the 2.7 car would require changing out most of the drive-train as the transmissions, engines and control systems are different, the fuel system and dash panels are also part of that change as would be much of the engine harness.
To put it into slightly different terms, it is like putting a Ford engine and transmission into a Chevrolet.
