Sometimes when I turn the key to the run position with engine off the battery light comes on, airbag light comes on, anti-theft light blinks. Also, I do not hear the fuel pump prime and the coolant temperature gauge stays in cold position even if the engine is hot. Sometimes when those symptoms occur I start the car let it run for few minutes turn it off turn the key to run position engine off all symptoms are gone and i can hear the fuel pump prime. When the symptoms occur and when I start the car put it in gear it goes to limp mode. Usually there are two codes p0882 and p0218. I checked the temperature of the transmission is not overheating.

Good afternoon.

Most of the dash issues sound normal to me. The cluster does a sweep test every time you turn the key on.

Do you have an issue starting the car? The fuel pump should run for two seconds when you turn the key on.

Can you verify the year and engine of your car? There is no 2006 Voyager listed with a 3.0.

No, is not normal when the car runs normally at run position engine off lights comes on for few seconds and disappear. However, when it is not the battery light stays on anti-theft flashes and airbag stays on also.

Okay, so beyond the self test, the anti theft light and the airbag lights stay on?

Have you had anyone check for any codes in those systems?

When the car starts, does the airbag light go out?

If you have an issue with the anti theft, it will not start. If you have another key, have you tried another key?

Another possibility is the ignition switch itself, it may not be powering up those systems all the time. If you turn the key off and on again, does it go back to normal?

1. Yes, the airbag light, battery light and antithetic (blinking) stays on key on engine off , when there is no issue when I turn key to run position engine off those light comes on (the anti-theft light its steady dot) for few seconds and go away after. the only light that stays is the seat belt light.
2. When the car start the airbag light go out also battery light and anti-theft light.
3. I do not have another key.
4. Sometimes when i turn the key to off and on again it goes back to normal sometimes it does not at that time I will start the car let it run for few minutes turn it off and bingo everything is normal.
5. I switched two ignition switch did not help.

Hello,

If I can throw in my two cents, I have seen where the transmission control relay goes out which can cause this issue. Here is a guide to help check the relay and the location of the relay as well with the ring diagrams so you can see how the system works:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

I will did just I forget to tell you the car acts up same as I unplug the PCM c1 connector? It is like there is no power and ground going through c1 connector. However, when I back probe the wires there is power and ground even when the car acting up.

What about the connector on the ignition switch? Did you check for any loose, damaged or burnt pins?

Okay, I would go to the fuse block or the TIPM module under the hood. Check all the connectors for any corrosion or burns.

The TIPM go out all the time in these cars you can replaced it without programming it BTW. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem. Cheers, Ken

Then most likely the TIPM is the issue.

Ken gave you the instructions on how to replace it.

Sorry forget to tell you key is on run position engine off. When the car does what you see in the video it will not shift limp mode. However, when all the lights are off at the run position engine off the car will shift normally.

Thanks for the video it does look like the TIPM is out. This is what they act like, sometimes they sometimes they do not. It would be my next step.

Hmm. Can we re run the codes to see if they changed? The only other thing I can think of that can cause that problem is the PCM.

I replaced the PCM already because of the code p0882. Actually the car has two codes p0882 and p0700.

When the car is acting up the PCM does not send voltage to the transmission control relay. Also when I turn the key to run position engine off and see what you saw in the video what I do is I start the car let it idle for few minutes turn it back off , turn it back on to the run position and voila the car is fine. It is like there is something needs to warm up

The other thing is when i disconnect the PCM c1 connector and turn the key to run position engine off the car does also what you saw in the video its like the PCM does not get voltage.

I have heard of the instrument cluster causing weird problem from guys in the shop FYI. To me it sounds like a wiring issue can we go over the wiring harness to check for open or grounded circuits? Here is a guide to use with the wiring diagrams above:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

Let me know

So do I need to check all the harness wires? Or just the instrument cluster?

Both, start with the wiring make sure we are all good there, then the cluster.

Just let you know the car did not act up for few days now also no codes p0882 p0218. The difference is the outdoor temperature on those days the temperature is about 32 at night and 60 days. What could be related to temperature?

It sounds like the sonilond pack which has the fluid temperature sensor in it needs to be replaced. Here is a diagram of what I am talking about. Let me know what happens.

I thought the temperature sensor is part of TRS. Also, when the car acting up and put it in reverse the white back up light is not on.

That could be shorted gear range sensor, let's use the wiring diagrams I gave to test through the sensor it could be causing the issue.

I measured the voltages of the TRS wires and compared to what Alldata specification.
When the car acting up or when the car is not acting up the value of the trs are:

T43T41 T3 T1
P CL CL OP CL
R CL OP OP CL
N CL CL CL CL
D OP OP CL CL
3 OP OP OP CL
1 CL OP CL CL

Alldata specification for the TRS are:

T43T41 T3 T1
P CL CL CL OP
R CL OP OP OP
N CL CL OP CL
D OP OP OP CL
3 OP OP CL OP
1 CL OP CL CL

The top line of testing is a concern on T3 supposed to be closed and it open, looks like the sensor is bad.

This is either a wiring problem or the gauge cluster is bad which is a module as well. I would confirm the wiring is okay and then try a used cluster.
