The engine light is not on but I hook my OBD 1 scanner and it shows that codes are stored. Is that normal because my scanner won't erase the stored codes. The truck runs fine it just that those codes are stored .

Good afternoon.

When a code sets on the OBD1 system, it is a hard code. Once you repair it or if it corrects itself, it goes inactive on its own. It stays in long-term memory for as long as there is power.

If you did nothing when the light came on, chances are they will return as hard codes. What are the codes stored? Did you do any repairs for the codes?

Clearing feature will only clear active codes on OBD1 systems.
