Stopped accelerating

I was driving and all of a sudden, the car stopped accelerating and I coasted to where I could stop. I turned off the engine and try to restart, it acted like it wanted to, but it took several tries before it started. But once it did, the whole car shook violently. I pushed on the gas pedal, but it did not move. I shut the car off and haven't done anything else.

Hi,

By chance, was the check engine light on when it was running? If so, see if you can get your hands on a scan tool and retrieve codes.

Also, when this happened, was there any dark smoke from the exhaust, any odd smells, or anything other than the drivability issue?

Here is a quick video showing how to scan the computer for codes. Do this. Also, if you can record it cranking and running so I can hear it, that would be helpful.
