When this happens, does it make any noise? I came across a technical service bulletin (TSB) related to a rattle when hitting bumps or turning the wheel.

ELANTRA STEERING COLUMN RATTLE
Some 2007-2010MY Elantra and 2009-2010MY Elantra Touring vehicles may exhibit a slight rattle noise from the steering column while driving on rough roads at low speeds or while turning the steering wheel. This condition is cause by the worm shaft flexible coupling in the motor driven power steering (MDPS) column. This bulletin provides the procedure to repair this condition.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Some 2007-2010MY Elantra and 2009-2010MY Elantra Touring vehicles manufactured between July 1, 2007 and April 24, 2009.
