You have to look under the hood for a power steering pump driven by the belt or a reservoir for power steering fluid. If you don't know what to look for any mechanic can identify those parts in a few seconds.

Did you just buy this vehicle? If you've had it a while and you recognize the steering was easier before, the power steering pump or power steering gear may be defective.
