After replacing the alternator and steering pump, the power steering still does not work?

I changed my alternator and steering pump, but my power steering still doesn't work. I've checked the fluids and turned the wheel left and right. I can hear a grinding noise when I try to turn the wheel sometimes. There is also a low power surge.

I assume the power steering didn't work before you installed the pump. If so, the rack is bad and needs to be replaced. Here is how to change the rack out in the images below. Do not spin the wheel when it is disconnected because you will damage the spiral wire behind the steering wheel. Also, disconnect the battery before you begin, you will need to get the car aligned was the job is completed. Check out the images (below).
