I changed the steering column inthe car listed above. I did not change the ignition switch working. I used the one that was in the column. Went to start the car and it made the little lock symbol appear on the dash cluster. Now the starter won't even engage when you try to start it. My question is, can the car be program to accept the used key or do I need to purchase a new key? If the key that came with the column can be programmed into the security system, if so how do I do that?

Hi,

The computer doesn't recognize the new switch/key. I want you to try something. Follow the directions I listed below and see if it will then start.

This will take 30 minutes to complete, so make sure you have the time. If you stop at any point before finishing, it won't work.

Try it and let me know the results or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
