Steering column installation issue?

I had to replace my steering column, but now I can’t get the new steering column to go into the steering shaft so I can tighten the pincher bolt. Any suggestions would help please.

Hi,

Are you referring to the intermediate shaft? I attached a pic below of what I'm referring to. Let me know if that is correct.

If it is, is the issue the shaft seems too big for the joint, or is it an alignment issue?
