I am working on the car after the lady let someone else try and fix it. The key was lost and someone told her she does not need a key they can hot wire it for her. They have the wire harness connectors all cut out of it the thing is tore up. So I found a column at a salvage yard that came with the key and I have installed that. Now I crimped the wires together the best I can but they changed the way they are color coded. So I want to make sure I have got the wires connected right because I turn the switch on and the dash lights come on, but when I turn it to start there is nothing. No click, does not turn over, the dash lights go out that is it. Now they have the harness to shifter cut the shifter is all broke up and was not going into park correctly. When trying to start it it reminds me of having the vehicle in reverse or drive. So I got a few questions hopefully you can help me with. Where can I find a free wire diagram for the steering column? Even though I have a key and ignition switch that are already programmed together does it still need to be programmed to the PCM? And if it was an issue with the key in ignition switch not being programmed with the vehicle still turn over at least? My thoughts are it would still turn over but not start. I have been looking all over for a wire diagram if I have to go and buy the manual but free is always nicer.

Hello, I am Danny.

I have attached a steering column wiring diagram for you. Yes, the key you have will have to be programmed to the PCM. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Thank you very much for that I appreciate it. As far as the reprogramming question; again I got the steering column with key at a salvage yard is it still going to have to be programmed to the car? If it does need to be programmed to the car should it still crank but not start or if it is not programmed? It will not even crank when trying to start.

Hello again.

Yes, the key will need to be programmed to the car. Usually the anti-theft light will flash, car will crank, and no-start. I have attached an anti-theft reset tutorial for you. Hope this helps. Thanks again for using 2CarPros.
