Hi Janet,

There are 2 different starters because there are 2 different engine types. The MFI VG30E (Multi port fuel injection non Turbo) and the MFI Turbo VG30ET (Multi port fuel injection with Turbo). If you are not sure whether it's a turbo or not, check the underhood engine sticker for the engine type and compare engine codes provided.

Hello, I'm Danny.

I've attached a picture below for you with price and part number. This is from the AutoZone auto parts franchises. If you don't have an AutoZone near you your local auto parts stores can cross reference the part number. The warranty term called limited-lifetime means the warranty is good for as long as you own the vehicle you're covered. Sell the car the warranty is not transferred to the new owner. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.

Hi again Janet,

Jumping back in here because I have found out about the issue you have having (sorry for taking so long). There was an engine design change in that year model. Prior to and through 2/89 was one engine, and it changed for 3/89 and after. Both 3.0L, but designed differently. From what I've been told, one is a side mount, and the other is a front mount - and which design is which for what production time I'm still researching.

Check your underhood sticker and the door sticker to find the production time and this will help narrow down which one is needed. The only other way is to remove the starter and match it with the pictures of auto parts stores on line -- or take it in to them.

Mid-model changes always cause confusion!

Here for ya. Glenn
