My crankshaft keyway is worn out, how can i repair it without having a huge bill. Im about to deploy to afghanistan and want to fix the car and sell it before i go. The previous mechanic was telling me i had to buy a whole engine. To me it seem it is too much. Please help!!

Replacing a crankshaft pretty much amounts to replacing an engine. You really don't have any options here. The crankshaft is toast and that is the spine of the engine. You could try having someone weld the keyway in but that would be real tricky and hard to do and may not hold. It would also prevent you from ever being able to remove the gear behind it.
