When I unplugged the camshaft sensor, it stayed cranked. So, I replaced the camshaft sensor with a new one, but still have the same problem. What could it be?

Hi,

What I am seeing on these vehicles upon inspection, is the throttle body having heavy carbon deposits and needing to be serviced. This is what has caused the condition you indicated above on several issues.

Here is what I suggest: Service the throttle body and see if the problem improves.

Here is a link that explains how to do it:

This won't take long and really won't cost anything. Try this first. Also, the idea that you disconnected the cam sensor, and it ran is likely because the computer went into a pre-determined setting to prevent the engine from stalling.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you! The throttle body did have a lot of buildup. I sprayed and cleaned it with carb cleaner, put it back on and it cranked and stayed cranked.

Hi,

You are very welcome. Is it running properly now? If so, I had a feeling that was the cause and an easy fix.

Let me know if it isn't running properly. If it is, take care of yourself, and feel free to come back anytime in the future. You are always welcome here. If there is still a problem, let me know and we'll continue diagnosing.

Joe
