I have a Winnebago Brave Motorhome and I'm trying to get a camshaft and crankshaft sensors for a Winnebago Brave Motorhome 1995 diesel automatic. Can you help with the parts and a diagram and location where fitted? Thanks

Hi,

The crankshaft position sensor is easy. It is behind the crankshaft pulley at the front of the engine. See pic 1 below.

I don't believe this has a camshaft position sensor. Are you basing this on diagnostic trouble codes that were retrieved? If so, what are the codes?

Below, I attached a pic of the crankshaft position sensor. The remaining pics are for the replacement process and the TDC offset programming. This normally required a GM OBD1 scan tool. I don't know if you have one or not.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

I have fault codes 17, 18 and 35 when I use a jumper wire across two terminals. When the engine does start and run it's fine. It just takes a bit of time on occasion to start. Thanks for helping.

Hi,

Now I understand why you asked for about a cam sensor. Codes 17 and 18 are related to the pump cam sensor.

Okay, before I send you information that is incorrect, I need you to check what the 8th digit is from left to right in the VIN number (engine code). See pic below. Also, confirm if this is a 3/4-ton or a 1-ton van chassis.

Let me know. The pic I attached is for the one-ton. If it isn't a one-ton, still let me know the engine code from the VIN.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

No problem. It appears to be a 1-ton chassis. I can't tell what the 8th digit is. See pic below. Can you tell me what that is?

Let me know.

Joe

Hi,

Engine code F isn't identified as an option. I went with P thinking the letter may have been scratched over the years.

Now, all three of these codes are related. Below, I attached code diagnostics for each. I, for some reason, switched 17 and 18, so 18 is first.

Code 17 indicates that if code 18 is present at the same time, there are two specific circuits to check.

Take a look through them and let me know if they help.

Take care,

Joe

Sorry but I find this well confusing. The code if definitely an F. Can you please indicate with pictures where and what to check? I'm trying to get an adapter which goes from obd2 to obd1, hopefully this will help.

Hi,

Sorry about that. If the VIN code is an F, I have nothing indicating information for it. It is a van, correct, and not a truck (cab and chassis) that was converted.

Let me know.
