Everything was fine, filled up to about half tank level and car refused to start. The engine turned over fine but as soon as car started it would stop.

After almost an hour the car still refused to start and was towed home. Today the car started fine but the idle is very erratic with the rpm dropping and rising like a yo-yo. So much so that I dont want to drive it.

Not sure if it is important or not but the last few times I have refueled I have notices a petrol smell in the cabin

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Have found the problem, believe it or not it was actually caused by water in the petrol at the pump. Took the garage receipt to the gas station and they paid it along with a full tank of fuel as compensation.

Added injector and fuel system cleaner and the Volvo is running better than ever
