While driving a small puff of smoke came out from behind my gauge cluster and steering column. Now only half of the lights on the gauges work and the fuel gauge wont accurately show fuel. the mile counter has gone blank and the car its self wont even turn over or cause click as if it was a dead battery or fuel pump.

Sounds as if you have had a dead short in the cluster, this will have to be removed and checked for signs of scorching, if so the cluster will have to be replaced.
