My check engine light is on so I got the codes off the computer and reset all codes. When I tried to start the car it said starting disabled, remove key. The check engine light is still on and the security light stays on while trying to start. When I turn the key it does nothing no click or nothing just light up. The code was for secondary air flow system. I had a new smog pump put on last year and the check engine light went off but I never had a problem with the car not starting. This problem happened after I reset all codes. Seems like a security problem. I took the hot cable off the battery and waited for ten minutes and put it back on but the same results. Starting disabled, remove key. I also had a new key and tumbler installed about six months ago but when I put the key in the ignition the seat and steering wheel adjust normally just will not start. Thanks

What did you use to reset the codes? From your description it sounds like the reset may have damaged the PCM. Have seen that happen with some of the low end code readers. The security light staying on means that it is a component failure in the system, not that it does not see the key (which is why the seat still adjusts). Either a BCM or PCM failure would cause it. About the only way to find it would be to use a Tech 2 to access the security system and read the codes from it, then run the tests for the components.

I used the dash computer, I pushed info and on/off at the same time and cleared all codes. Does that damage the PCM?

That should not hurt it, unless there was already an issue with the PCM and the reset finished it off. An external scan tool can do more than the on-board unit and could show you if there is a communication problem or if it is actually a failed part.
