Starter won't catch flywheel

2000 HYUNDAI SONATA

Have a new battery and new starter installed. The starter is spinning but not catching the flywheel it is actually grazing it. What is the issue an how can I fix it?

Either you have the wrong starter motor or the flywheel is damaged. Remove the starter and look at the flywheel teeth. If they are damaged you will probably need to replace the flywheel.
