Starter wiring diagram needed?

Putting a starter back in that someone else took out need help figuring out where the wires go. There's 4 of them. The purple wire that's supposed to go to the signal post has been spliced into another purple wire. The whole thing under there don't make sense to me.

Hi,

I attached the wiring schematic below. I see three wires. The heavy gauge wire from the battery directly to the starter, then from the same post on the starter, you have a wire that will lead to the alternator.

The third wire (purple) is the trigger wire. It is smaller in diameter and goes to the smaller post on the starter.

Take a look at the schematic below and let me know if it helps. Also, if it doesn't, I need to know the wire colors you presently have.
