Starter was still engaged after the car started, made the car quit while making a loud noise coming from the starter, got it towed home. I changed the starter now it turns over and keeps turning over when i let go of the key. it is not firing just turning over until I turn it off. I disconnected the positive terminal while changing out the starter, has plenty of gas.

Hello and thank you for using 2CarPros. There was a recall for the ignition switch being faulty. The recall does not address your concern but a faulty ignition switch could cause the starter to stay engaged. Here is a link where you can check for the recall:

That should be your first step. Let us know if this is the case. The recall was for another issue where the key could be removed prior to putting in park but sometimes in rare circumstances it can cause another issue like what your describing and keeping the starter engaged?
