Starter relay location

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

The relay is in the passenger compartment fuse/relay box. I attached a picture of what you are looking for. In the picture, it is identified as the ST relay.

As far as the no crank, it could be a few issues. Simple things such as a corroded or loose battery terminal, neutral safety switch can cause this. Also, you mentioned the starter is good. Has it been checked? Have you checked to see if there is power to the smaller wire on the starter when the key is in the start position? If there is no power, a relay or fuse can be an issue. If there is power, the starter is bad.

My van does the same. Simply will not engage starter or crank at 12.3 V or below... quick charge or jump starts right up...

Anytime the vehicle requires a jump or charge leads me to think there is a connection issue at the battery. Those are the terminals that would be touched when doing either. Are they tight and clean?

Let me know. Also, do me a favor. Have a helper crank the engine (when it isn't working properly) while you watch the battery voltage. Let me know how far it drops. Also, when you have the voltmeter on the battery to test, make the connection on the battery cables and not the actual battery posts.

Well, you pretty much nailed it. All my fiddling around checking this and that while hypothesizing a unifying theory, I overlooked a truly basic and fundamental component. Yup Petrol...Just kidding. The water in the batteries had been neglected for quite some time.... Air, Fuel, Spark and Water. Lol ! Let this be a lesson.... You are never too old to be a space cadet !
