We have no technical info for your vehicle on this side of the pond.
I'd think that if it actually was the starter being the issue, The brushes (maybe worn out) and their mating surface on the armature (being dirty and gnarled from arcing)
This would require disassembly of the starter to clean/ repair it.
Probably not a simple scrubbing on the exterior.
Most would opt for a new/ rebuilt starter and only deal with removal and installation (no takey aparty!)
I'm gonna recommend trying one other idea!
I looked for a wire diagram in "Prodemand" / Searched Google for "2002 Ford Transit WIKI" to see if there might be a comparable vehicle over here in which I could maybe use it's wire diagram for the starting system-No Dice!
So let's maybe wing this!
If you have a starter relay (in your fuse or relay compartment) Find it's "Twin" (if there is one) Something that is exactly the same (unimportant-Like power windows/ etc.)
Swap them puppies as a test
If you seem to have no troubles, the original relay may be going to the bad, Simply replace it with a new one!
Sorry that I was unable to track down any other possibilities
Please return with good news!
