Starter engages on second click of key, which is the normal "run" position, without turning the key all the way to the start position. Also, the starter stays engaged as long as the key is in the "run" position.
Thought starter solenoid was kaput, so installed a new starter/solenoid. To my dismay, the problem persists.
All fuses seem okay.
Ideas?

I would check the starter relay first. Swap it with another relay and if the starter engages or stays engaged then I would suspect either the ignition switch and/or ignition cylinder is causing this.
The starter should not be engaging that soon until the last stroke of the ignition key.
I had some starter solenoid wiring touching where they should not causing the starter to stay on all the time. I am sure this is not the case but though I would mention it.
