When I crank, the starter does not turn over the engine?

111,000 MILES • 3.8L • V6 • 2WD • AUTOMATIC

It engages, but I only hear the noise of the starter spinning fast, without engaging the motor. Do i need to change solenoid, starter motor, or booth?

Hi,

It sounds like the starter Bendix has failed. The Bendix is what kicks the starter drive gear out to connect with the flex plate and turn the engine. In this case, I would replace the starter motor.
