I am having trouble with my top starter bolt. I got the lower one off no issue, but I've been stuck trying to figure out how to get the last one (top)to break loose. Car on jack and stands didn't remove driveshaft bolts. Also, I have enough space through the front wheel fender to practically touch the starter just wanted to add.

Hi,

You have to remove the driveshaft. Otherwise, the access just isn't there. Also, if I remember correctly, even if you remove the bolt, I believe the driveshaft will cause an issue for removing it from the vehicle.

I attached the directions below. The first set of directions are for the removal of the drive shaft. Note the directions are for replacement. It indicates you need to remove the trans cross member while supporting the trans. Before going to that extent, see if disconnecting the drive shaft at the front differential will provide the room needed. If not, it will need to be completely removed.

Let me know if this helps or if you have questions.

Take care and Happy Thanksgiving.

Joe
