Does this sound like I need to replace my starter? Ruled out battery. Don't think it's fuel pump bc I can hear it run and I've tried priming it by cycling the key and it doesn't make it start any faster. It eventually starts and runs fine afterwards. No CEL no codes

What to check next

Diagnostic guidance. Suggested checks and possible repairs are separate from the owner's reported results.

Keep the reported starting improvement separate from the later code. For P0011, obtain the engine-specific diagnostic procedure and document the oil specification, level and relevant test results before authorizing timing-system work.

Ok so another problem I'm now having is a P0011 code on my 2013 Sonota. Had oil changed and cleaned the VVT solenoids both intake and exhaust. Still throwing the code. Any suggestions?

Did you do the repair or did you pay a shop to do it? I have seen bits of dirt, seals, etc get caught in the tiny passages just below the VVT solenoids. If everything looks good and clear, it is possible the timing chain is stretched. But you would need to disassemble to verify.

Discussion summary

Starter?

The owner reported difficult starting followed by normal running. After replacing the starter, the owner said the vehicle ran well. A later update raised a separate P0011 concern on the 2013 Sonata despite an oil change and cleaning both VVT solenoids.

Reported outcome: The owner reported improvement after starter replacement. The later P0011 concern remained unresolved.

The original sound could not be evaluated from this text export. Debris and timing-chain wear were proposed explanations for the later code, not confirmed findings.
