It is hiding in plain sight. If you remove the right hand splash shield from the engine the starter is behind it. If yours has an issue the first thing I would check is the ground connection that attaches at the starter stud itself, have seen a few that corroded there and gave the appearance of a failing starter. Cleaned the crud off and tightened things back up and it returned to normal. The shield traps dirt/water and causes issues. But it does protect it from direct water /snow splashes.
