Car started up fine, so I drove to the store. Then I was going to head home so I put my key in and turned but the car wasn’t turning over at all. So, I took the key out and tried again and still wasn’t turning over after 2 seconds of holding the key and no sound, it suddenly started up. What do you think would be the cause of this? Mechanic said my battery is fine, so I don’t think it’s that.

This sounds like the magnetic switch inside the starter motor is going bad. here is the starter wiring diagrams so you can see how the starter system works and I have included a generic starter replacement guide to show you the steps of the replacement and the instructions to do the job on your car is in the diagrams below.
