Hi,
It sounds like a faulty ignition control module. When this happens, does it start right back up? Also, do me a favor and see if there are any diagnostic trouble codes stored. Although I feel this could be the issue, I would rather be sure.
This vehicle has an OBD1 system that doesn't require a scanner to retrieve codes. Follow the directions in this link and let me know what you find:
