Intermittent stalling when transmission is shifted into reverse

It does not do it all the time that is why it has me mind clogged. It's been a good truck other than a few flaws. Would the EGR valve cause it to stall?

Yes that is one possibility! Is your check engine light on? I have had plenty of these with stuck open EGR valves, just give the side of the valve a tap with a hammer and most of them clear up, but still remove the valve so you can clean it. But a great place to start is to retrieve the codes from the PCM, that way your not barking up the wrong tree!
