Stalling during hot weather. Due to fuel evaporation?

Hi, my little car loves to run in hot weather, especially on the highways, but when I'm at lights or need to wait for any length of time in hot weather, she stalls, and is difficult to restart. Bugga! She doesn't have an aircon, and has very little insulation as such, and I was told that the fuel is evaporating from the carby. Is this true? What can I do, other than rev her a little whilst stationery, which can sometimes be awkward. Thanks in advance for your wonderful professional advice.I'm a second time visitor. ;)

CARBS ARE GREAT!

WHEN THEY ARE "TWEAKED IN" CORRECTLY, I'LL TAKE A CARBURETED JEEP ANYDAY OVER THIS NEW OVER COMPLICATED JUNK OF TODAY

I'LL ATTEMPT TO AID YOU AS MUCH AS I CAN, AS LONG AS YOU DO YOUR END AND CONTINUE TO RESPOND

NO WAY!EVAPORATION? MR. FUEL PUMP IS CONSTANTLY FILLING UP THE BOWL, FUEL CANNOT EVAPORATE THAT FAST!

HERE'S SOME IDEAS TO START WITH

IF YOU HAVE BRASS OR COMPOSITE FLOATS, MAYBE THERE IS A HOLE AND THEY ARE SINKING, OR SATURATED AND SINKING?

WHEN WAS YOUR LAST "REAL" FULL TUNE UP?

WHEN IT RUNS, DOES IT RUN WELL OR IS IT A REALLY WORN ENGINE?

VACUUM LINES? ALL IN PLACE? ANY CRACKED OR SO LOOSE THEY ARE ABOUT TO FALL OFF?

CARB TIGHTENED TO THE INTAKE WELL? INTAKE TIGHTENED TO THE ENGINE WELL?

TIMING IS CORRECT?

DO YOU HAVE TOOLS SUCH AS A TIMING LIGHT OR DWELL/ TACH PORTABLE METER?

IF IT COMES DOWN TO IT, ARE YOU CAPABLE OF REPLACING THE CARB WITH A REMANUFACTURED ONE?

IMMA JEEP KINDA GUY, PRETTY MUCH, "CARB THEORY" IS THE SAME AS YOURS, EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT EXPERIENCED WITH YOUR KINDA CAR

JUST FOR GIGGLES

MAYBE YOUR CARB COULD USE A GOOD INTERNAL SUCKING OUT!

THIS IS PRETTY EZ, MAY TAKE A FEW TRIES, BUT NUTHIN' WILL BE HURT, EVEN IF IT DOES NOT IMPROVE THINGS!

TO CUT DOWN ON THE LENGTH OF THE NOVEL I'M WRITING YOU, PLEASE SEE MY 2nd RESPONSE IN THIS OTHER POST, SEE THIS LINK, I MADE PICS FOR IT TOO!

Hiya! Thanks for the detailed response. Lots of food for thought, that's for sure. :)
Appreciate the encouragement, but alas.I'm not a backyard mechanic by any means (minor replacement of spare parts such as headlights/ taillights only), and will definitely discuss the issues you raise at my next visit to a professional. Due within the next month. :)
As my car is quite old, and apparently quite rare, I often get puzzled looks from some mechanics. Even those who claim to have experience with the quirks that come with this particular model. So your expert opinion is very welcome indeed. And may offer avenues of exploration should it not be obvious upon first inspection. :)
Older cars are a little like older people. They require patience, understanding, creative 'communication', and lots of TLC. :)
Thanks once again for your invaluable assistance. Keep of Jeeping :)
Janette ;)
PS: attached is a photo of my Little Red Rocket on her first return to the "Mothership". I'm a proud mum :) She has since been back for a second classics display, and has also started her 'supermodel' career as a featured extra in a Telemovie on the early days of INXS. It may be aired where you are located sometime soon. ;)

YOU DON'T THINK THAT YOU OR ONE OF YOUR BUDDIES COULD PERFORM THE "WET RAG THING"?

I ALSO LOOKED UP A REMANUFACTURED CARB AT SEVERAL ONLINE STORES (EBAY MIGHT BE ANOTHER PLACE FOR YOU TO LOOK)

HERE'S A LINK TO ONE WHICH DISPLAYED PICS

PLEASE RETURN TO THIS POST AND GIVE US THE NEWS ON HOW EVERYTHING TURNS OUT WITH YOUR TUNE-UP (EVEN IF IT'S WEEKS FROM NOW)
