stalling when headlights are turned on?

my car drives good in the day light but every time i turn my headlights on at night they slowing go dim and then the car starts to stall out and then cuts off.

Hi,

It sounds like the alternator is failing. Here is what I need you to do: Follow the directions in this link and let me know the results.

When testing, check the alternator output with the lights off first. Then check the output with the lights and other electrical components such as the heater blower motor, the wipers, and anything you can think of, and let me know the output at that point.

The test is very simple. However, you need a voltmeter or a general multimeter. Let me know if this is something you can do.
