Started randomly shutting off on me but it would crank right back up. Eventually it started stalling when it was idling and when I was driving but it cranked right back up like it was losing power. Changed fuel filter at first it wouldn't crank eventually it crank, I guess it got primed enough to crank, and it would start, and it would run idle but as soon as you give a gas it was sputter and shut off. I put a throttle position sensor on it and now it won't even idle and stay running. It'll crank but it won't stay idle and run and if you try to give it gas it sputters and shuts off. It has no fuel pressure on the rail, but I can hear my pump coming out just fine. I've been reading up on it and there's just so many things that could be and I don't want to waste a lot of money trying to get down to the point.

Hi,

If the fuel pressure at the rail is low, either the fuel filter (in the tank) is plugged, there is damage to one of the fuel lines, or the pump is faulty.

Although you hear the pump running, it is likely weak, and needs replaced. One difficult part of replacing it is the removal of the fuel tank. The design on these wasn't (in my mind) the greatest. The steel cover around the tank is what holds it in place. If you are in a rust area, they can be difficult to remove.

I attached the directions below. This is what I recommend at this point. By replacing the pump/module, the filter will also be replaced.

Let me know.

Joe
