So, even if the system comes on it could be low on voltage/amperage. If the battery is more than 3 years old, I would remove it and take it to an auto parts store for testing which they will do for free.

You can help confirm the failure if you use a voltage meter on the battery on try to crank the engine over while watching the battery voltage which should not drop below 10 volts.
