The SRS light came on and then the check engine light. When put into drve it doesn't shift into first. I have to start in low then second then drive. Checked the codes and I get P1600. What does that mean?

P1600 is a serial communication fault between the engine and transmission control module It could also be due to broken or loose connections and even a fault within the transmission control system.
