sputters and rpm begins to fluctuate while driving

hi I have a nissan almera 2002 It's loss of power when accelerating and driving around 50-60 mph at ~2k rpm. The car also sputters and rpm begins to fluctuate while driving. It has not cut out. what would this be.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

No the check engine light has not come on.

Since the light hasn't come on, it becomes a guessing game. A sensor or ignition component malfunction will trip the check engine light, so that leads me to believe it may be fuel related. Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Has the fuel filter ever been replaced? Also, I need to know the actual mileage on the vehicle.
