I was driving down the highway then my SUV started to lose power and sputter but idled just fine in park.

It sounds like you have a misfire under load.

How long since you replaced the plugs? It could be a spark plug breaking sown under a load.
Is the check engine light on? If it is, do you know the code? You can have the codes read for free at a parts store.

I changed the spark plug wires and spark plugs last August and no check engine light.

Okay that was last August and this is now. Any one of the plugs could be breaking down under a load. I would not assume anything at this point.
I would also check the fuel pressure as well.
