it runs fine when going down the road however if it sits for a while (like more than five minutes) or if I even sit at a light for more than just a couple minutes it sputters and sounds like it is going to stall. What could this be?

Hello,

It sounds like it could be one of a couple things. First can for vacuum leaks.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

and then I would change the spark plugs and wires for new

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-tune-up-a-car-engine

and finally the mass air flow sensor can be out of range but not setting a code.

Please run some tests and get back to us so we can continue helping you.

Cheers, Ken
