Good morning, sir,
The vehicle speedometer is not functioning, but the transmission is working perfectly (shifting into gears). I thought the transmission should not upshift since the speedometer is not functioning. How can the combination meter be tested to know if the problem is not from the combination meter? Could I get a circuit diagram showing the relationship between transmission, combination meter and ECU?
And what other tests could be done?

It does sound like the cluster is no good and you will need to get a rebuilt unit. Here are the wiring diagrams for the speedometer and vehicle speed sensor to the PCM. They call it a revolution sensor. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Good morning, sir,

Sir, is there any way for someone to know how the system operates?
For some make, I know that once the speedometer is not functioning the vehicle will not upshift. This information cannot be gotten from the circuit diagram.

Not really, if the power and grounds are good and there is no code for the VSS then it is pointing to the instruments cluster as the problem.

I would not get an oscilloscope for this problem, lets try to replace the VSS sensor instead. Here is the location of the sensor.

Good morning, sir,

I want to buy oscilloscope, but I don't know how to select a better one, the image that I posted earlier was one of the types I saw online but I don't know if it is good for the automotive problem. The oscilloscope is not for this problem but I wanted to add it to my tools, that is why I am asking sir.

I see, sounds good, basically any oscilloscope that can supply a wave form is good for automotive applications.
