Car drives fine, except when information goes away then steering tightens up. Took it to three different parts stores for code, and it pulled p1000 on two, and drive cycle not complete at the other. Took to dealership, who said it needs cluster, IC internal fault. Too expensive, plus other information found from reader on here to replace ABS track control module, or aABS control module with speed control sensor. Please help.

If the cluster and speedometer stop working then the remainder of the computers such as ABS and traction control will not no what is going on that is why those systems are having a problem. I would try to find a used cluster to install it would be cheaper.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Ken, I got a diagnosis from the dealership of a short in the cluster, and an estimate for replacing it. I am a senior female so am trying to get this done cheaper than they quote. If I find a used cluster, would I have to have it programmed? And who could do that? Also, they mentioned I might find someone who rebuilds clusters. If I did would they be able to program it? They also said it could get to where the key would not work. If I continue to drive it what input could you give me about these things? I am in the Tampa area, so just about anything available, I should be able to find here. Thanks for your help.

I believe it is plug and play but if not the re-builder or a good shop should be able to do it for you. I would call around to see if you can get a used one, it should work and be okay.

Please let us know what happens and upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Ken
