I converted my 2.0 auto Focus to a 2.3 Lincoln mkc 2.3 turbo 5 spd. I used a Ford Mustang 2.3 m-6017-23t controls pack.I had to do away with the speed control and air, because the new computer has no provisions for running these. My problem is, I cannot get an after market speedometer to work with the stock VSS. I decided to try the stock speedometer. I have to get a computer pin diagram for the 2006 Focus so I can get a wire from the ECM to the VSS. Do you have this diagram?

Hi,

I attached two pictures below that are actually from one. I cut it in half to make it readable. I did overlap it. The schematics are the entire AT circuit for a 2006 Focus with a 2.0L. If you look at the second pic, you will see I highlighted a wire that runs between the output speed sensor and the PCM.

I hope this helps. Let me know.
Joe

Hi Joe, the problem is, all the wires feeding the old engine and transmission had to be unplugged because they were not needed. I have no idea which plug would have that wire. I thought the easiest way to get that would be at the computer pin. I already tied the VSS signal wire to the signal wire at the radio plug, but I later found that those wires go to the speed control unit I no longer have.
Thank you for your help Joe.

Do you still have the old harness in the vehicle? It should be pin 7 on the PCM harness. Locate that and it should lead you to the VSS signal wire on the original harness.

Let me know.

Thanks again Joe,

The old computer is still mounted and there are three plugs in it. I will look into that. I've had it out several times, but I left it attached thinking it controls some things. At the time I was looking for a white blue wire but I couldn't see one. My original thought was I might need a manual transmission computer, but I don't think that's the case.
I just ordered a 2006 Focus used factory wiring manual. There were two multi-wire plugs I unplugged when I installed the new engine. I know the VSS signal is in one. They are very close to the transmission and there's a chance of picking up the wire there, and going directly to the VSS sensor. Once again I thank you for your information and time. I'm 80 years old and have built many different cars, but this project has been the hardest yet. I did it all by myself. I'm getting too old for this stuff, but I love the challenge.

You sound a lot like me. LOL At 56, I still love a challenge, but often times feel I'm getting too old as well. The newer cars are nightmares when it comes to wiring, modules, CAN bus systems and so on. I'm sure you already know that.

As far as the two connectors, are they different colors or anything that might help me identify them?

Let me know what you find and how things turn out for you.

Take care,
Joe

Hi Joe,

I'm still waiting for my wiring book to come, but in the mean time I pulled the computer out again and found the white blue wire on pin 6. Of the right side plug. I soldered my wire from the VSS to it and hoped for the best. Still no speedometer. When I checked the wiring loom there are no other wires on the 1-5 side and nothing close on the other side. I've got to check the VSS again but I'm beginning to think I might need a manual shift computer. In the Haynes repair manual, there diagram shows different pin locations for manual and auto. What do you think?
Thanks R. Speeth

Hi,

That is very possible. You are sure the VSS is good, correct?
