I am planning to replace my spark plugs this weekend on my 4.6 ford V8 it's high mileage and I've heard of the "Two-Piece spark plug" design being a nightmare in some cases people say they have to remove the head from the engine to repair the damage caused by the spark plug snapping in half .

My question is would my vehicle have these Two-Piece spark plugs?

Is the Motorcraft SP547 The correct replacement part? Or should I get a regular style Motorcraft spark plug as a replacement?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you are referring to as a two-piece spark plug. Do you mean they are known to break? If that is correct, yes, they can. However, the 5.4L was worse than this engine.

Take your time when doing it. If you turn it out a turn, work it back in 1/2 turn and then back out. That can help prevent them from breaking.

As far as the spark plug is concerned, use the same thing as you remove.

Let me know if I can help.
