Hi, I keep having problems with the spark plug wire melting. It is always cylinder three that melts the plug wire. I replaced the plugs twice. Last time I did it I replaced the plugs the wires and the coil packs. I am still having the same issue. The original plug wires had metal boots. I am wondering if that would cause the plugs to burn up being that they sit so close to the manifold. The plugs are the same length as the original ones but do not have the metal insulator on it. The original ones I did not have a problem with I just had to do a tune up. Could it be the plugs or could it be something else? I also have a catalytic converter code. I am having the catalytic converters replaced tomorrow with high flow catalytic converters. I took it to an exhaust shop and that is what they recommended. Being it would be easier to change them out. Thanks.

Good morning.

What brand and size wires are you using?

The catalytic converters can cause this problem because of the back pressure which causes extra heat. I would make sure all heat shields are in place. Can you send us a picture of the damage so we can confirm the issue?

Cheers, Ken

Hi sorry I have meant to post back. I guess I will never find this problem out. I got two new cats installed on Tuesday. It ran good. My dad drove it Wednesday and said it felt like something broke in the front end on the right side and he said the rear end got loose and hit a curb and he flipped it. It is totaled from what he said. I get to see it tomorrow and take pictures. The weird thing is the air bags did not deploy at all. It rolled over a few times.

Sorry to hear that.

Air bags will deploy on front end collisions with speed greater than 15 MPH. they will not deploy on roll overs unless there is an impact.
